For Cat & Blue Bird.....Or a warning about what happens to she who is ̶s̶t̶u̶p̶i̶d̶ bold enough to say THAT word....

Ward's response to 'Whatever'.......

My response to his response:

And then....

And then....

(But really.....I have NEVER said whatever to Daddy.....now you know why!)

    1. LOL, I just talked to Ward while he was on his lunch. He saw on his phone that there were two comments so I came over & read them to him & he chuckled. I remarked that I DO find myself even avoiding that word in casual, totally innocent conversation....and now you know why :-P He told me this early on, when we were just courting...I took him very seriously :D

    1. Hey HLA - Not really an insider thing. BB just made a comment on my blog about THAT word and June said she was going to post about consequences of using it. Here's the link if you want to see the conversation: http://gigglesgrinsandreflections.blogspot.com/2012/12/remind-you-of-anyone.html.

See June - not taking your dare - didn't even type it - don't need that triple dipper ouchy and gotta funny feeling Ward could find me if he really put his mind to it! :)

      Hugs,
      Cat

    2. HLA - no, not inside at all, lol. Just carryover from our conversation on Cat's post "Recognize Anyone.." I dared her to ask Ward about that word, lol. So Daddy & I got to giggling over it, and decided to do this post. It was fun. I'm not even tryin' to say that word *shakes my head vigorously*

  3. Haha! Very cute June! "Whatever" is a pretty disrespectful word...just sounds like a big fat "I don't care what you say" right in their face! I like the pics, I've gotta learn how to insert pictures on mine...seems like blogger can be glitchy I haven't completely figured it all out yet:)

I TOLD you he was a behemoth (a great big gorgeous one at that :-P)!

  5. If my husband says whatever to me I say it back and then mainly a "screw you." He has stopped saying now cause he doesn't like me saying if. What if your mans says if? It's not right for either to say it man or woman. To get respect my husband will give to to me if he doesn't be won't be respected by me. Just because he is my husband doesn't automatically mean he earns respect just like with our kids and us. We earn respect from our kids and also have never put a hand on them. Not downing you just making a point if they don't want you doing or saying something then they also cannot do it or say it or it's fair play.

    1. That's a good point, Anonymous. Ward is entirely respectful, and has never spoken to me in a manner that would subjugate or disrespect me. Ward believes in leading by example, he also believes it is of the utmost importance that our boys learn the proper way to relate, speak and communicate with their future partners.

We both believe that respect is not owed simply based on a self-proclaimed title. Ward earns the respect of his family daily with his kindness, his compassion, his love, in the fact that he not only hears, but really listens, and that he makes sure that everyone in this family is fed, heart, mind, body and soul.

    2. Aww then you have one great husband :-) most men aren't like that. We also don't allow our kids to say if either.

    3. Thanks :) He is honestly the very best man I have ever known. I'm proud to call him mine, and proud to be his.

  6. That is a no no word in our house too. Though sometimes it just slips out, all on its own. Love the pics June

    1. Thanks, M3 :) I hate it coming from kids (ours dont say it), so I'd never dream of saying it to him, but yes, he made that perfectly clear early on that that was a nono word :)

  7. My husband cured me of saying that word aloooong time ago. Before he got a twitchy palm.......well he probably had a twitchy palm then but not permission to use it. ; )
In my defense, the resent event, my husband was teasing me unmercifully as he does when he is tired. It went on for hours. I was sympathetic but began throwing out signals. I was nearing my limit. He wasn't reading them. I finally said umm....that word and turned away, only to leap three feet in the air from the swat he delivered. I guess I had his attention then. : )

    1. Funny how that works, isn't it Blue Bird? LOL, when I said that other nono word....fine (shudders), actually I believe it was prolly more like ~Fine!~ (not completely capitalized...but...well,you know...and in my head I WAS stomping my foot >.< ...which I know he heard, cause he's talented like that, lol :">... you could hear all his gears, as well as all the gears in the space-time continuum, grind to a halt, he turned to me with this look of complete and utter calm that had the aura of ..you just stepped in the big doodoo, little one... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I had his full attention, and suddenly....was hoping it was anywhere but on me, lol.

    2. When my husband starts teasing me, I get up and walk away. I was terribly hurt by teasing as a child and can recount every incident in excruciating detail. I can also recount in excruciating detail every time my husband has teased me or wronged me, so he finally stopped. If he teases me when he's tired, I leave, or if I can't exactly leave, I stay far away from him for at least two days. I just cannot absorb all the pain from being teased; I just have to get away or I cannot function. It's terrible. I would rather get a black eye than be teased. In my opinion, teasing is the #1 way for my husband to demean me into dirt under his feet. It is so destructive to human dignity. Maybe that's why we really don't enjoy one another's company much and stress each other out....but it's better that way than to be completely destroyed.

I'm not talking the really ugly stuff, like someone putting you down...I'm talking about what you would probably call regular everyday teasing. I cannot bear that. Keep at a distance anybody who even hints at the possibility they might tease you...that's my motto.

    3. Have you talked to your husband about how hurtful it is to you? There is a difference between teasing and cruel remarks meant to denigrate. Maybe he is not aware that that is how his comments are perceived. If he intends them to be so hurtful, that's another matter that you would need to evaluate. We all deserve to be with someone who values us, and treats us with respect.

If you need to talk to Ward or myself, our email is above right. (((hugs)))

  8. Ian hates that word - more than any other flippant response, I think. I swear you can see his eyeball twitch...LOL - but really it is not funny. Don't poke the bear. ;)

    1. Hi, LillieBelle :)

Well.....it is kinda funny...it's the kind of funny where you know the goose is cooked...and you are more or less powerless to move or think or do much more than twitch and wait for the big ol' bear to just eat you already, lol.

    1. Fine is on our list now, too....I thought that was ok...not snarky, just a little butthurt, which apparently, leads to your butt hurting! Who;da thought???

lol, he's really very sweat, not at all scary, though he has a scary look....he's just a big ol' teddy bear....with a big paw, a hairbrush, a mean long paddle, and a belt (and a bunch of other owie things, but that's a story for another day :-P)

    2. Uh, yeah....not helping his whole scary factor there June ;)

  12. Ummm....cute and cudly...you know Lions & Gorillas are cute and cuddly too in the right circumstances. What was the saying in Cars...float like a butterfly, sting like a bee (hehe). Ya, well, as long as you know the rules, it's an effective deterrent - right?!

    1. LOL, fiona :) Mmmmmmm...he'smore like a tiger, with scrunchy ears & fur (I just say that cause it's on my bucket list, to scrunch a tiger :-P And scrunching and cuddling with Daddy is as satisfying as I imagine the tiger would be.)

You're not kidding. There's a face that goes with that,lol...he only makes it in jest(When he's serious, he is most calm and kind in discipline). I have a 'little' friend and we were joking because I'm kind of afraid around her Daddy (he is sweet, but intimidates me a little), and she saw Daddy make that face & said..."Oh my God, I think I just peed myself!" LOL

  13. I guess it's a normal thing then - that word is a no no here as well! Also a curt "FINE" or "It's Fiiiiine!" are not allowed as well as answering "I don't know"...

I never knew how much I said those things until we found ourselves in our DD relationship. Now I try thinking things through BEFORE answering... unless, I'm feeling lucky that day and I can let it fly then RUN like the wind!
    LOL

    1. Mmmm, that's theword I was looking for! Curt! I don't know is allowed here, but not...'nothing'...sighs.

Oh heck,Emi, there is NO running around here, no one can outrun Ward....NO ONE! Not even our zippy little 7 year old! He goes zipping through the house & makes us dizzy, Daddy will finally just dash after him and hug him, lol to get him to stop. Even if you got a running start, the man can pounce across half a room, and has a 4-foot arm span O_o LOL, best just to stay there & accept your fate...gulp :-P

  14. Cute post! I never really said whatever to Michael even before DD, at least not with an attitude. However, there are other things that I used to say that he put a stop to with such actions.

  15. Oh dear! It gives me the shivers to read about it...b/c it's what happens here. I have purged myself of the word except in my head. Now he calls me on other words that are said in the same tone. My eyes get big...and well, you already wrote the rest of the story.

  16. But "Whatever" is one of my favorite things to say! Along with "fine"...but alas John doesn't care for them much either :( I try...no really I do try NOT to say them, but as we are new (well that's the excuse I'm sticking to!) they tend to slip out more often than they should. Your post made by butt muscles tighten up LOL!
