We remember...

You may not agree with the war or the conflict that put them in harm's way. You may not support the government that sent them. You may not believe in the policies of the military. The men and women who put on the uniform possess an honor that many could not fathom. They are individuals who love this country and the people in it so much that they would walk away from their families, and their lives, and put theirs on the line for each and every one of us. Honor them, and never forget that freedom isn't free, they pay the price for all of us.

To my Ward, my best friend, my Man, my Daddy, my One, my only, my moon, my sun, my stars, my heart, my life, my dear true love, I am proud of you and I am honored to call you mine. You ARE my hero.

The Warriors Pledge

Oh warrior, my brother, my sister: We once prepared for battle, and served our causes as best we could. Perhaps we are stained by blood shed by others, or carry scars from our own wounds.  Yet our task is not complete until we have acknowledged one another. Oh warrior, my brother my sister, I offer to you the following: I will honor your experience of service, recognizing that while your cause may not be mine, the terrors of war bind us together.  I will listen to your story, and share with you my own for without each other we cannot know the truth, nor can we tell the story to our children.

I will value your life, even though in the past we may have sought to destroy one another and may indeed have destroyed lives precious to each other, today your life is precious to me.  I will give you the gift of my presence, that we may know each other as the warriors we are, complete our task, and welcome each other into our homes. Alan Cutter, NAVVVM, 1999

I pray for the day that the only way to visit a piece of your heart is not by touching a piece of granite. This wall bears two pieces of my heart, a special ops Army officer, panel 47W (12 years of service DOC 8-11-68), and a Navy flier (12 years of service DOC 4-26-78), panel 13E.

I pray for the day that no partner has to look at their other half with that look of love, and terror, and bravery on their eyes, and the fear that this may be the last time; that no parent has to hold their crying child and utter a promise they pray God allows them to keep, that no man sees his child enter the world over a video feed.

I give thanks with a grateful, humble heart that my brave sailor does not have to leave, and that we are spared that fear and uncertainty this time. And I pray for each of his crew-mates and their families. I am plagued by a fear of my own selfishness, but he's mine - he's ours and we need him, and he's already given so much.

The Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as brightly as his brass.

Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
No, Lord, I guess I aint
Because those of us who carry guns
Cant always be a saint.

Ive had to work most Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes Ive been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
Ive wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here,
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, Ill understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God,

Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well,
Walk peacefully on Heavens streets,
You've done your time in Hell.

"Today, a proud nation expresses our gratitude. But we do so mindful that no ceremony or parade, no hug or handshake is enough to truly honor that service. For that, we must do more. For that, we must commit—this day and every day—to serving you as well as you’ve served us." —President Obama
HIS POV:
It is an honor to serve my country.  It is an even deeper honor to serve my family. June has once again touched my heart and I type this POV with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. Things haven't always been easy, fun, or fair but with the Lord's grace and a devotion that is unrivaled we have managed to navigate the turbulence that is military family life... Thank you everyone for giving me something to fight for, thank you June for being my soft place to land.

HIS POV:
True love bespells all the senses, but the mind the most. The way we feel about each other is a timless tribute to our love.

We got news...

As you know, Daddy has been waiting for word on whether he would have to deploy, and would be gone from us for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and Valentine's Day.

Daddy got some news, and he told us

By the grace of God, his orders have changed, and our family will be together for the holidays. We thank each and every one of you for your support, positive thoughts and especially for your generosity of spirit in lifting us up in your prayers. We are so very grateful for this community, and for the many blessings we receive from Him, both directly and those given through the grace of love and of friendship.

I share with all of you, especially my friends who are suffering their own worries at this moment,  two songs that have brought me comfort, and our promise that our family will continue to lift each and every one of you in our prayers.

HIS POV:
Things can change as quick as a flash of lightning in the service. I wish my comrades in arms a safe and sound deployment. I have been given the blessing of experiencing the holidays in full effect with my family and that is truly the blessing to many many prayers and we thank you all so very much for giving us so much needed support.Thank you all for your steadfast support of Lady June and myself during what has been a interesting year!

Spoiling, Pampering, Relaxation...

I think one of the things that June and I both really enjoy about each other and our home is comfort. I look around and see comfort as a somewhat underrated concept today. There is something wonderful about cool, rainy days spent next to each other on the couch and in each others arms.  I'm a big man, I'm sure you've heard June reference this a couple of times, I am what you call built for comfort. I workout to keep myself in shape, but I'll be honest, I'll never be the poster boy for the ab rocker.... I was born to be a big guy and in so, I think I have a deeper appreciation for comfort, (enjoying it, causing it, etc) than most. I love  the warmth that comes from reading sitting up in bed, the way her head feels on my lap, or the way my head feels when it rests upon her breasts.

I love to pamper June   (No not like that!!!)  In all seriousness though I love treating her to experiences that soothe the senses, hone her arousal and to showcase my devotion, dominance and loyalty to her and our relationship.  I am always looking for new ways and ideas to do this, but sometimes the classics are the best.

- Manicure/Pedicure
- Full Body Massage (couples massage)
- A candle lit bath
- A relaxing spanking (yes, they can be quite soothing at times)
- I love to cook, so I love making her favorite meals and desserts (even the edible kind!)

Attempting to spoil June has become something of an obsession for me. I really do think it further enhances an already incredibly strong bond. I know every inch of her from the the longest hair on her head to the tip of her little purple-painted toes.  Every day offers a chance to enjoy each other in a full warm way that celebrates the comfort that we bring each other that has nothing to do with material things, or the latest and greatest gadgets or toys.  It's the rain on our roof, it's walking barefoot on the beach... It's watching the kids rake the leaves in the yard into a giant pile only to jump in them.

I would encourage you to do something comfortable this weekend. Guys, give her a foot rub, and take the kids for a few hours. Ladies, rub his back and bring him his favorite snack... cuddle together on the sofa after the kids are in bed and watch a movie... or just talk like we do. It will be time well spent..I promise!

Her POV
I love doing things for Ward, as you may have gleaned from the pages of this blog. I love to make his favorite meals, I like to have things ....well at least semi-orderly (c'mon 2 active boys - this will never be Better Homes and Gardens, lol). I like him to walk home to clean laundry and a hot meal - he works hard. I enjoy how he wraps the little things around him, really appreciates the efforts that I make, like the mantle of love they are intended to be.

Believe it or not, I have never been pampered till Ward. I have given many a massage and never been given one until Ward. I have never had time to myself, like he provides. I've never been commanded (love you, Daddy) to go and do something for me and stay out of the house till dinner - that he prepared. I've never had anyone say, give me that dust rag, give me those dishes, you go read/take a bath/have some you time. It has taken some getting used to, this reciprocity.

Our children see it, they love it. And I love what it models for them. It models how to be a man, a gentleman, how to treat a lady, how to have a relationship and reciprocity. How to have a joy that it has taken me a lifetime to find.

Oh, and Daddy does indeed make the most luscious Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, and chocolate macadamia nut brownies that are the perfect apres spanking treat ;)

I need your grace

We struggle, my Darling, under the weight of all these fears. And like the song exhorts, I would wish that I could just lay down here, have you lie with me and we could just forget the world, duty, and submarines, and distance.

I promised you long ago that I would be your safe place to land. I hope that I do that, you deserve that, and I need to give you that. In these days, with their interminable waiting, and trepidation of the possible news, I try to be supportive. I pray for the grace that I need to serve us and to support you in your duty. And I am afraid that in trying to protect you from the rawness of my fear, that I have not been that soft place.

"I need your grace to remind me to find my own" - and I tell you that I am afraid of the distance and that I don't understand why I am pushing away, and the soft fingers on my face and the gentle voice, "I think I understand, lovey" and you speak my heart, and I cry. I cry because I have been blessed with grace beyond measure. I have been blessed with you. And I find my belief in all that is good, and I find my faith that this is meant to be, and I find that God has given me all the grace that I will ever need in you.

I love you, and I thank you for your faith, your patience, your love, your strength, your guidance, gentle. And I thank God every single second of every single day for you.

HIS POV:
God grant me the strength to be the man that you deserve. His grace is unquestionable and I am only his instrument. I pray for that nightly and my blessing in you is manifest and undeniable. Grace is there even through the difficult times, even when it isn't easy, even when it hurts. What we have is always beautiful, always powerful and I think even when you are quiet, even when the distance is there, you can feel it.... I love you... and I thank the Lord for blessing me beyond my wildest of dreams.
